Demo 2 Progress and Social Media

Hi, YENFAY here!
First of all I want to thanks to everyone who played, streamed and uploaded videos playing the game, it makes me really happy you all enjoyed the SAGE demo.

I also want to apologize to everyone who was interested in this project and haven't seen any kind of news, I even don't have social media, so that's something that I will change.

So, I've made a Bluesky account so you can follow the project and ask me whatever you want! and a Twitter/X Account is also available. Links are at the end of the devlog. I'm going to post sneak peeks and announcements there, so follow me of you are interested!

Now, what I've been up to? Demo 2 progress was really slow, real life and university stuff got in the way so progress wasn't really smooth. I promise I'll make progress faster this time.

What Demo 2 will feature?

  • Stage 2, the story continues! stage 2 is being developed as I'm writing this devlog. I'm trying a new method I found out after analyzing Metal Slug stages, If you are interested In that let me know! Stage 2 will happen outside the town, and will feature a mysterious train system in operation, and a new character with ties to Pablo(A simple bartender you may have come across at some point)
  • The Story, Now if you played the SAGE demo, you might remember how it said the story was not final. That was because the story featured in that demo was a placeholder, it doesn't resemble the actual story for the game. Demo 2 will include the story that I've planned for this game. It is about machines that blend reality, a halted time flow and more.
  • A new difficulty mode called Normal Mode, I've seen footage of people breezing through Easy Mode but struggling with Hard Mode, my bad!, I think I've underestimated the players skill.
  • A New Shot Type called Heavy Knife, in the prior demo you only had one shot option now called Light Knife. As it's name implies this knife will fall into the ground when you shoot it, but it has higher damage.
  • Training Mode, stage 1 isn't really that hard, but I can see further stages becoming harder. Originally I've made this for testing purposes but it could be a really good Training option! You choose the stage and the room to train.
  • Improved Remapping Optionsthe SAGE demo had some remapping options but they were really bad, also although the game supports gamepads, you can't really remap them, so I've decided to rework the remapping system.
  • New and Improved Scoring System, the scoring system has been reworked, although it features the same fundamentals, it's completely new. This new scoring system will require further explanation, so for today the details will be skipped. Also, depending on the shot type you choose, the system will vary!
  • Graphical Improvements, some sprites had been remade. The "clouds" you see in the background were kind of bugged, in a way that some computers show the clouds and others not, and it had a weird resetting effect every 100 seconds. That was a workaround for another weird bug. Now it should be fine.
  • Difficulty Balancesit is what is sounds like.

More information will be given in the following days, going into details about each one of the features from Demo 2, so stay tuned if you are interested! I'll make more devlogs before releasing Demo 2, you can follow me in social media:

Thank you for reading, see you next time!
